LUCKY DUCKS
The 50th State Fair was a big deal when I was growing up. There are no permanent amusement parks on Oahu, so you have to wait for high school fairs or the state fair. I don’t particularly enjoy riding rides, but I love to go to fairs. I love the flashing lights, sounds of excitement, and all the food. Mike and I went on a date to the Del Mar Fair in California. He bought me a pickle on a stick. It was awesome.

The games at fairs, or amusement parks, all seem to be a big fat waist of money. Who really wants some cheap stuffed animal? I tell you who, MY kids. Lagoon has a game that is a straight shot from the entrance. Davis knew he wanted to hit that up first. I was hoping he would forget. Mike didn’t know about D’s plan and neither of us had any cash. Mike was thinking we could talk Davis out of the game, but I knew better. I turned Mike over towards the surcharging atm and then we were on our way to the games.
Luck Duck says everyone is a winner. We happened to be so lucky on this visit and made out with two big frogs + one little frog for ten bucks. Not bad for amusement park standards. Our poor friends didn’t fare so well. It cost them seventeen bucks for the same cheap toys. With the game checked off the list we were off to the rides.

Davis and Tess love rides. We thought Collin would like it, but it turns out he’s not quite the thrill seeker.

Our original plan was to come home at a reasonable hour and put the kids to bed so we could hang out. Before we knew it the clock said 9:30 and we still an hour drive home.
Oh well, it was a great day for all of us.

Tess loves cotton candy.
